Tulln, NOE is using LoRaWAN technology to manage IoT tree moisture sensors for targeted irrigation
The Municipality of Tulln is establishing itself as a "Green Smart City" by using Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) technology to manage energy-efficient data transmissions between IoT sensors over long distances. The sensors are operational for up to 10 years without changing the battery reducing energy and maintenance costs. The municipality will equip select public green spaces and all newly planted trees with moisture IoT sensors to improve growth care with targeted irrigation.

The Municipality of Tulln partnered with "CIMA Beratung + Management GmbH" consulting agency to launch the "StadtUp" start-up competition. The "StadtUp" competition was designed as a promotional program to encourage proposals for establishing or expanding businesses in the city center. The proposals will be reviewed by a 20-member jury consisting of network partners and city marketing professionals. Five winners will receive over €100,000 in support measures and service packages.

The Municipality of Tulln partnered with the Graz company "citiesapps S&R GmbH" to launch the Tulln "Cities" mobile app. The Cities mobile app was designed to create a digital infrastructure and information platform for residents, businesses, associations, etc. The various features include local news alerts, company newsletters, discounts at participating businesses, annual raffles, targeted advertisements, etc.

The Municipality of Tulln created the "Tulln Zehner" community currency campaign to promote local shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents pay 10% less when making purchases with Tulln Zehner and the difference is financed by the municipality. Residents with a SocialCard were able to apply for a one-time fee of €30 for up to €300 for specific purchases.
