Newcastle upon Tyne City Council, GB supports independent living with digital fall prevention pilots
Newcastle upon Tyne City Council, GB Digital Fall Prevention
This initiative with Urban Foresight sought tech-based solutions for falls by Reablement Service clients. An initial study identified three opportunities for digital services: food intake management, home navigation, and strength exercises. Pilot participants used council-equipped smart lights for improved navigation and smart speakers for timed reminders about food and medicine. Newcastle's Adult Social Care team held ongoing conversations about exercise with clients during video calls.
