Bloomington, IN Fire Department makes its own gear drying rack

The average amount of time for drying has been cut in half, representing a difference of several hours each time gear is dried. Through small modifications (such as fastening the inner liner of the gear to the rack using clothespins and the addition of a larger fan) the firefighters are hopeful that this project will continue producing the results they need as members of a Fire Department that is always at the ready, freeing up precious dollars to be invested elsewhere in the Department.

Bloomington, IN Public Works team creates a bollard housing lifting tool

Bollards are short vertical cast-iron posts covered by heavy brightly colored housings that prevent motorized traffic from entering an area. They are very heavy and difficult to maneuver. Consequently, PW staff set about creating a prototype tool that would grab the bollard housing unit and more easily allow it to be lifted and placed atop the concrete post. saving the crews responsible for installing the housing sleeves time, frustration, and potential injury.

Eslöv, SE launched a new e-service for digital grant applications to improve road maintenance

The Municipality of Eslöv launched a new e-service where community facilities, road associations, road communities can digitally apply for grants. The e-service streamlines the application process to give the municipality the opportunity to manage applications and distribute funds more efficiently. The grants can be used for road operations, maintenance, and construction as long as the road is not closed to public traffic without the municipality's consent.

The Bilbao City Council launched the "General Electronic Registry of Powers of Attorney" to facilitate municipal procedures and services involving third parties. The registry prevents residents from being required to repeatedly submit the same documentation proving the representation each time they carry out an administrative procedure.

The Municipality of Zapopan obtained the PROSARE certification (Program for the Recognition and Operation of the Rapid Opening of Companies System) from the National Commission for Regulatory Improvement (CONAMER). The PROSARE certification recognizes the municipality's practice of regularly helping low-risk companies obtain type A and B licenses in less than 72 hours. The certificate encourages more small businesses to open in the area and reactivate the economy following the COVID pandemic.
