Isle of Wight Council, GB improves local care with Personal Assistant Hospital Discharge Initiative
Isle of Wight Council, GB Personal Assistant Initiative
Complete
This initiative fills skills gaps in rural areas while allowing patients to recover at home instead of hospitals and care facilities. A PA Market Development Team developed a PA notice board to connect qualified assistants with families in search of care. This team also works with Skills for Care and other partners to provide continuing education for PAs. Isle of Wight Council maintains a database of qualified PAs and adjusts recruiting and training based on patient discharge statistics.
Project Succeeded
The Personal Assistant Hospital Discharge Initiative reduced care facility admissions by 41% over a three-year period.
